Here’s Yunqing!

Hi, my name is Yunqing, and you’re welcome to call me Sylvia. I am an eighteen year old girl from China, and I can speak in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. This is my second year studying at the University of Westminster and I am delighted to be part of the Internet Culture course!

There’s an adage saying that life is a soup and I’m just a fork, which explains why I’m the type that likes to enjoy every moment of the moment. I have a wide range of interests, with music🎵 and food🍰 taking up pretty much the lion’s share. Music heals the soul, food rescues the body. My favourite music comes from BTS, and the “Love Yourself” campaign they did with the United Nations has had a huge impact on my life. I began to be open to the fact that “The faults and mistakes are also what I am, making up the brightest stars in the constellation of my life.” I began to love who I am now, who I was, and who I hope to become in the future. As for food, it’s another great source of power for me. I’ve discovered a lot of great restaurants in London over the last year, so feel free to let me know if you guys have any new discoveries as well!

I have always been passionate about the internet and feel blessed to have been born in the age of new media. This has given me a lot of convenience and happiness in my study and life, and therefore I would like to explore this more deeply. Much of this class, such as Internet communities and fandoms, the digital ethnography, has been of great intrigue to me.

Last but not least, here’s a short introductory video about me. Once again it was nice to meet you all! I sincerely hope that we can have a great semester together and learn many new things in this course!
